forgiveness of following orders

Do you forgive a soldier for obeying his commander's order to shoot an unarmed mother and child? Well i would for multiple reasons the soldier is obeying a command from a commander. in the military it is a strict rule to obey the commands of your superior and the consequences of disobeying a direct order is death. Knowing this the man who obeyed the order, feared death but also knew that if he were to disobey the order that somebody else would kill the mother and child instead. By knowing this I believe it is justified for him to be forgiven of what he did.

  1. yes but what if it is later proven that the commander became crazy from the war and he enjoyed watching people die and suffer.

    1. If the commander was crazy then wouldn't he be the one that would take full responsibility for the deaths of the civillians when they went to court.

  2. I agree. If he wouldn't have shot the woman and child he could have gotten punished and someone else would have shot the woman and child anyways. Also, the soldier could have gotten killed for disobeying direct orders

  3. look at it this way isaiah, what if you were in the same position and it was your mother and your little brother(idk if you have a brother XD). your commander told you to kill them, you knew that you would die if you did not and they would be killed anyways. i just brought that up so that you could see not only the fact that he did not want to die but the fact that he actualy had to kill them and that the might be close to him. i do believe that he should be forgiven though.

  4. He followed orders bro, he had the choice to do it or not to do it, he could be considered a "disgrace" to his country or be a hero to the people who he didn't shoot. But even if he did shoot, he does deserve forgiveness. Everyone makes mistakes, ones are worse then others but we are humans and we all deserve to be forgiven.

  5. Isaiah this guy could save many lives for losing his and I beleive that he could have prevented this before hand by never joining the army. If he had to join it then his life for many would be the best option and the choice I would choice
